How to get a medical marijuana card?

Before you can purchase medical cannabis from The Half Oz, you need to obtain a Mississippi medical marijuana card. For your convenience, we have outlined the requirements set by the Mississippi Department of Health below:

Step 1: Determine If You Have a Qualifying Condition

To get your Mississippi medical cannabis card, you need to have a qualifying health condition. Qualifying health conditions include:
• Cancer
• Parkinson’s disease
• Huntington’s disease
• Muscular dystrophy
• Glaucoma
• Spastic quadriplegia
• HIV/AIDS
• Hepatitis
• Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS)
• Crohn’s disease
• Ulcerative colitis
• Sickle-cell anemia
• Alzheimer’s disease
• Agitation of dementia
• Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
• Autism
• Pain refractory to appropriate opioid management
• Diabetic/peripheral neuropathy
• Spinal cord disease or severe injury
Or health conditions that produce:
• Cachexia
• Chronic pain
• Severe or intractable nausea
• Seizures
• Severe and persistent muscle spasms including, but not limited to, those characteristic of multiple sclerosis

Step 2: Visit a Certified Medical Cannabis Practitioner

Once you have confirmed you have a qualifying condition, visit a certified medical marijuana practitioner. They will complete the necessary certification for you to receive your card.

Step 3: Submit Your Application to the Medical Cannabis Program

After your provider gives you your medical cannabis certification, you must submit your application within 60 days of receiving it.

Step 4: Receive Your Medical Marijuana ID Card

If your application is approved, you will receive your medical marijuana card, which is valid for a maximum of one year.

Step 5: Use Your Card at Your Local Cannabis Dispensary

Once you have obtained your card, you can use it to buy medical marijuana products.

How much does it cost to get a medical marijuana card?
While there is no application fee, there is a standard nonrefundable fee of $25. For Medicaid participants, the nonrefundable fee is $15. The medical practitioner who certifies your eligibility may also charge a fee.
Can I buy medical cannabis without a medical marijuana card?
No. You must first obtain a medical marijuana card to purchase medical cannabis from a dispensary.
How do I use medical cannabis?
In Mississippi, you can consume cannabis in several ways. The current forms available include: • Flower • Concentrates • Edibles • Vape Products • Topicals
What are the Mississippi state regulations regarding product limits?
A resident cardholder is restricted from acquiring more than a cumulative total of six (6) MMCEUs of allowable medical cannabis per week, either from a single dispensary or a combination of dispensaries. Additionally, a resident cardholder is prohibited from obtaining more than a combined total of twenty-four (24) MMCEUs of allowable medical cannabis within a thirty (30) day period, whether from a single dispensary or a combination of dispensaries.
